To say the property had seen better days would be a gross understatement. The Richmond house had been gutted — the floors torn up, the plumbing and wiring re-routed to feed a massive hydroponics system used to grow marijuana.
After police shut the operation down in the late 1990s, the decrepit double-fronted Victorian was sold off as the proceeds of crime and sat, vacant and untouched, for more than a decade.
Put up for auction in June, it sold for more than $1.4 million.
